Stay informed!  As a new or past exhibitor, don’t miss important updates and highlights found in the eNews Updates.  

These updates contains important information relating to the 2014 NADA Convention & Expo and the 2014 ATD Convention & Expo.  Show dates are January 25 - 27, 2014 in New Orleans, LA at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

NEW "BEST BOOTH" COMPETITION WILL LAUNCH AT THE 2014 NADA & ATD EXPO

We think that our “Top 100” Expo showcases the best and brightest exhibit booth designs.  So we’re launching a new “BEST BOOTH” competition in New Orleans.  All NADA and ATD exhibiting companies in good standing are eligible, and are automatically entered.  Representatives from NADA and Freeman will evaluate the entries and select the winning booth.  The judging will take place on Saturday, and winners will be presented their trophy at their booth on Sunday afternoon with a photo op.  Winners will also be announced at the Monday General Session.   Click here for the FAQs.

BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR AND ENJOY THE SHOW!

The countdown continues, and most of you are in the final stretch of your NADA & ATD Expo planning. We have guidelines in place to help ensure that all exhibitors have a positive experience and good ROI for their participation. The following list includes some of the most common issues that Exhibitors need to be aware of in planning their 2014 participation. You'll find the complete list of rules & regulations HERE.

Within Booth Only - Exhibitors must not disbribute promotional material from any location outside of their assigned booth space. This includes restrooms, restaurants, workshop rooms and any other public area within or outside of the convention center.

Convention Center Exterior Property - Exhibitors may not post ads or any other form of advertising/marketing media on any structure, vehicle or device on the exterior grounds of convention center property.

Taste and Decorum - Exhibitors may use professional models within their booth space, however, the models must be tastefully dressed. (as determined by NADA Show Management.) They must also remain in the assigned booth space and cannot walk the exhibit hall aisles or other areas of the convention center for the purpose of soliciting business or directing/escorting attendees to their booth.

Audio or Visual Display Equipment - Exhibitors using audio systems and/or live entertainment must keep amplification at a conversational level. The use of speakers will be permitted only if they are within the confines of the contracted exhibit space and facing inward and not toward the aisles. Adequate sound insulation must be built around the speakers to assure non-interference with neighboring exhibitors.

No Live Animals - Live animals will not be allowed within any booth space or the exhibit hall. Service dogs are allowed under ADA guidelines.

No Peanuts or Popcorn - Peanuts or popcorn in any form are not allowed in the exhibit halls.

No Packing Up Early - Monday's final day is a full exhibit day from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Exhibitors ARE NOT authorized to pack up their booths until the closing announcements have been made.

EXHIBITOR RED CARPET LOUNGE

Don't forget to stop by the Red Carpet Lounge to grab a cup o' Joe in the morning, or take a break in the afternoon. Open Friday, January 24 through Monday, January 27, this lounge is provided exclusively for our exhibitor partners.  You'll find it next to Exhibitor Services in Exhibit Hall F.

MONDAY'S FREE EXPO HALL VIP PASSES

Don’t forget that exhibitors may invite VIP customers to shop the Expo on Monday, January 27th.  Your customers and prospects who have not registered for the 2014 NADA & ATD Convention & Expo can exchange the Expo VIP Pass to get a one day EXPO ONLY BADGE to stop by your booth and visit the Expo Hall.  It’s a great way to follow up with local vendors and customers and get more business done while you’re in New Orleans.  A copy of the Expo VIP Pass is available here for you to distribute to your customers and prospects.

SPECIAL "DEALERDATA" WORKSHOP HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE CONVENTION SCHEDULE

For those of you already registered to attend NADA & ATD workshops, you’ll be interested to know that we’ve just added a new and important session to our workshop line up - “Dealer Data: Protect Yourself and Your Valuable IP”.  This issue has caught the attention of the marketplace, and is a high-priority for dealers, dealer vendors, and NADA alike.  We want our exhibitors to be included in the process, and we invite you to attend this highly relevant workshop to get the latest information.  Note: You must be registered in the Exhibitor w/ Workshop category to attend this session.

All exhibiting companies are required to submit their Booth Floor Plan Reporting Form and booth design before the Expo move-in begins in New Orleans.  Reviewing booth floor plans ahead of time helps to cut down on the number of problems that may arise onsite.  Not providing this important info may negatively impact your company's move-in at show site, and could result in loss of time and money.  Help us help you.....get your Floor Plan information to us today.

NADA/ATD Expo Attendee List - Updated and Available for Download NOW

The second pre-show attendee list is now available for use in your pre-convention marketing efforts.  To download the lists now, click here to access myNADAplanner.  Once you are logged in, click on Pre-Show Registration Downloads in the Quick Links.  The third and final pre-show list will be ready in early January 2014.

THE 2014 NADA MOBILE APP AND YOU

The Convention & Expo mobile app (coming to the Apple Store and Google Play soon) is a powerful tool onsite at the show to search for companies and products & services.  To take advantage of this technology and maximize your company's visibility, make sure your eBooth's product description is included in your online profile.  Highlight your brand message and attract customers and prospects to your booth! NADA/ATD BOOTH ASSIGNMENTS BEGIN AUGUST 6

If you haven't already submitted your online booth space application for the 2014 NADA/ATD Expo in New Orleans - WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?  Act now to be sure your company's online application is received by August 5, 2013. NADA HOTEL SCAM - BEWARE! 

 

EXPERIENT is the Official Contractor for Hotel Reservations at the NADA and ATD Convention in New Orleans.  The NADA and ATD Convention & Expo staff have received phone calls and emails from members and exhibitors who are being solicited by unaffiliated hotels and reservation companies to book hotel rooms at the 2014 NADA and ATD Conventions in New Orleans.  The official contractor for convention housing and registration is EXPERIENT, which is authorized by NADA to offer hotel room rates, cancellation policies and registration.  NADA has no control over the cancellation policies, processing fees guarantees or other charges offered by unaffiliated vendors.  Click here for the list of NADA Official Contractors.

2014 NEW ORLEANS FLOOR PLAN SNEAK PEEK

The 2014 Convention & Expo website opens on Monday, July 22nd. You will receive an email with your password and a link to the online booth space application at that time. But here's a sneak peek to the New Orleans floor plan for you to use to plan your exhibit strategy before you submit the online booth space application.  Actual booth assignments will begin on August 6th, so if your company wants to be included in the first round of booth assignments based on the list of criteria below, you'll need to submit your online booth space application no later than August 5, 2013.  All applications received after August 5 will be included in the second round of booth assignments processed by date of receipt only.  We anticipate an early sell out of this event, so don't wait to submit your company's application for booth space!

NADA/ATD Booth assignments are processed using the following criteria, only IF application/contract is received by August 5, 2013. Applications received after August 5 will be subject to availability and processed by date of receipt only.

* Prior years of NADA expo participation by applicant

* Date of receipt of application/contract

* Size of space

* Degree of dealer interest in applicant's product(s) and/or service(s)

* Established business relationship with NADA or NADA Services Corporation (NADASC)

* Percentage of similar services or products in entire show

* Geographic market served by applicant

* Applicant's product and/or service reputation among dealers

* Number and validity of dealer complaints against applicant

* Length of time applicant has been in operation

* Financial and credit standing of applicant where available

BOOTH SPACE RATES

The NADA & ATD booth rates remain the same for 2014 - with no increase from the 2013 Orlando show.  NADA offers multi-tiered pricing options, while ATD offers one flat rate.  Please calculate your 2014 booth space cost using the rates below.  Keep in mind that a 50% deposit is required with the submission of a booth space application/contract.

NADA
Premium Rate - $35 per square foot - Highlighted in GREEN on the floor plan
These booth are located along entrance aisles leading into the Expo hall and also located along the Main Street horizontal aisle running through the center of the Expo Hall.

Regular Rate - $31 per square foot
These booths are not included in the Premium or Enterprise areas

Enterprise Rate - $26 per square foot - Highlighted in PURPLE on the floor plan
These are targeted booths that are located along the perimeter of the Expo Hall.

ATD
Regular Rate - $21 per square foot - Highlighted in ORANGE on the floor plan
These booths are all within the ATD Zone only.

The 2014 convention website is scheduled to launch in mid-July.  That's when the online booth space application will be available for the NADA/ATD Expo.  The show is heading to New Orleans - and will take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Updated List of Product Categories 

We're working to update the current list of product categories that you'll use to direct customers to your eBooth listing, and guide them to your booth at show site.  The idea is to streamline and modernize the product category listings based on current dealership practices, and stay current with ongoing changes within the industry.  This was one of the recommendations from this year's Wheelhouse exhibitor focus group meeting, and we think you're gonna like the changes.

Attendee Acquisition Widget

NADA is planning to launch a new program for 2014 that's designed to build our audience and attract new attendees with a branded exhibitor tool.  This attendee acquisition widget is FREE to all participating exhibitors, and it's  a great way for NADA to tap into the exhibitors' audience to help build show attendance.  Viewers of the widget can click to visit our convention website and view the exhibitor's online booth.  They can then save that exhibitor to their own personal expo plan, or quickly register for the event with a click of a button.  This widget also provides a win-win tool for all - the attendee acquisition widget helps NADA with our marketing efforts, and helps with your promotion and outreach.

Online Company Product Description

For returning exhibitors, be advised that your current 2013 company product description WILL NOT carry over into the 2014 planning.  You'll need to input that information from scratch once your booth assignment has been confirmed.  We believe this new process will help alleviate some of the programming issues that we have had in past years.  You'll begin your 2014 participation with a clean slate, and can start fresh with your company's brand messaging.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW FOR THE 2014 NADA/ATD EXPO IN NEW ORLEANS 

The show dates are January 24-27, 2014 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.  We’re working to finalize the Expo floor plan that will occupy Halls B – H.  In addition, we’re working to launch the 2014 convention website in July, and the online booth space process will be open for business by mid-July.  Booth assignments are scheduled to begin approximately two weeks after we begin accepting applications.  The booth space rates will remain the same – with no increase from the 2013 rates - offering a three-tiered pricing system outlined below.

  • Premium Rate:  $35/s.f.
  • Regular Rate:  $31/s.f.
  • Enterprise Rate:  $26/s.f. 

2013 POST-SHOW SURVEY RESULTS

Thanks to all of you who participated in the post-show survey.  We received a 20% response rate from exhibitors, and a 10% response rate from Dealer & Manager attendees who were at the 2013 Orlando show. 

Some of the Dealer/Manager highlights are offered below.

1)  When asked how many companies did they visit on the Expo floor? 

  • 20% visited up to 10 companies
  • 40% visited between 10 to 20 companies
  • 40% visited 20 or more companies

2)  When asked which products/services they were looking for?  The top 10 answers were…

  • Advertising/Marketing/Promo
  • CRM
  • Internet Services
  • Computer Services
  • Aftermarket Accessories
  • Management/Training/Education
  • Service Dept. Tools & Equipment
  • Finance & Insurance

(By the way, NADA is going to be working to revamp the current category system to better identify and classify the products & services to be offered at the 2014 Expo.  We’ll keep you updated on that in future eNews Updates.)

3)  When asked the approximate dollar value of orders that will be made as the result of attending the 2013 NADA Expo…

  • 39% plan to spend up to $25K
  • 11% plan to spend up to $50K
  • 10% plan to spend up to $100K
  • 11% plan to spend more than $100K

Note:  80% of Dealers & Managers surveyed said that they plan to attend the 2014 show in New Orleans.

1)  83% of exhibitors rated the NADA Expo “good to excellent” compared to other shows in which they exhibit.

2)  When asked which of the new 2013 Expo initiatives they liked best, the top 5 answers were:

  • Monday’s Expo hours were shortened to end at 3:30pm
  • Consistent 8:30 a.m opening time for each day of the Expo schedule
  • The complimentary badge allotment was increased to 5 badges per 100 s.f.
  • Neighborhood restaurants were located throughout the Expo Hall
  • Exhibitors received access to multiple pre-show attendee mailing lists November through January as well as the final post-show attendee list.

3)  39% of exhibitors rated the NADA Mobile App “good to excellent”

4)  96% of this year’s exhibitors plan to return for the 2014 NADA Expo in New Orleans

WHEELHOUSE SESSION RECAP

The second annual Wheelhouse Session was held in Dallas, TX on April 2nd where a cross-section of 13 companies participated in this dynamic, candid and creative forum of interchange.  These participants worked to help identify opportunities for improvement, confront challenges and discover actionable innovations to make the NADA Expo a more inspiring, enriching and profitable enterprise for all.  NADA will review their ideas and will come up with a list of actionable items for our 2014 planning efforts.  Here’s a snapshot of some of the ideas discussed at the meeting.

  • Review and update the current list of product categories utilized for company descriptions and online branding for exhibitors.
  • Get earlier start on booth sales for the next year’s event.
  • Update and improve the online “myNADAplanner” program with a more user friendly format.
  • Offer less expensive sponsorship opportunities.
  • Utilize QR Code technology for scanning attendee badges.
  • Consider adding a “Scavenger App” within the NADA Mobile App to add more fun to the Expo experience.
  • Start a “Best in Show” contest for exhibitor booths.
